On May 31, at the V.I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine we celebrated the release of the book Soviet Modernism. Brutalism, Post-modernism. Building and Structures in Ukraine 1955-1991.
We have been working on the book for more than 2 years with Alex Bykov, Ievgeniia Gubkina. In the book, we collected the best examples of modernist architecture in Ukraine. With this project, we want to show the aesthetics of modern architecture in Ukraine and spotlight the problem of its destruction.
The presentation of the book began with a talk by Sergey Pilipenko, the general director of the Kovalska ISG, Oleksii Bykov, the co-author of the book and the architect, and Dana Pavlychko, the director of the publishing house, about the preservation of modern architecture and the role of business in saving modernist jems.
Thank you Kovalska ISG for supporting the project.
