In the third novel, which wraps up Beckett's unofficial trilogy, the author completely abandons the plot and typical narrator in favor of an unnamed voice that weaves together Molloy, Malone, and all the characters from Beckett's novels. This voice attempts to find itself in an endless, repetitive monologue. As a result, identity is erased, and language proves powerless to restore it.

“For literary works that, through new forms of prose and drama, reach the heights in depicting the hardships of modern man” — this is how the Swedish Academy assessed Samuel Beckett's literary talent in 1969 and awarded him the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Beckett's popularity was mainly due to his dramatic works, but the academy also recognized his prose. The peak of Beckett's prose is considered to be an unofficial trilogy. The first two novels were published in post-war France in 1951, and the last in 1953.

In all three novels of the trilogy — Molloy, Malone Dies, and The Unnamable — Beckett, in his absurdist style, explores the limits of language and the endless possibilities of writing. These works lack a plot in the traditional sense. They are fragmented and delicate, like human beings themselves, threatened not only by external forces but also by their own inner worlds. His characters undergo moral and physical decay, face an identity crisis, and shift from one state to another, changing and merging as they go.
