Ukrainian Railroad Ladies is a series of portraits of Ukrainian railway crossing guards and traffic safety inspectors. This project also aims to discover why these professions remain relevant despite the near-complete automation of railway crossings across the country. The author seeks to explore certain anthropological and social aspects of this phenomenon and to highlight the common characteristics of Ukrainian railway operations. While working on the project, Sasha Maslov, known for his social documentary portraits that always focus on the subject in their environment, visited different parts of Ukraine.
