Areta Kovalska, a Ukrainian from Chicago who has been livig in Lviv since 2011, has written an original guidebook to Galicia during the times of the Austrian Empire. However, she is not interested in the standard tourist staples—cafes, confectioneries, and churches—as there are many other guidebooks for those. The vanishing details of the great city remind us that the spirit breathes where it wills. It leaves us signs on the walls, marks from Jewish mezuzahs on doorframes, and boot scrapers for footwear that has gone out of fashion to enter history. And if you look closely, the city will speak to you.

Please note!
From July 1, 2026, changes have come into effect for international shipments to the European Union.
The EU has abolished the €150 duty-free threshold for international parcels.
A new fixed customs fee has been introduced: €3 per tariff line item in the customs declaration (separate HS code / country of origin). For book orders on our website, this means a single €3 fee per entire order, since books fall under the same tariff code.
This fee is included in the customs value and affects the subsequent calculation of import VAT.
You will need to pay this duty regardless of the shipping cost. The customs fee is a separate charge collected during customs clearance and is not included in the cost of shipping or the goods themselves.
Each EU country may have its own specifics regarding the application of customs payments, so please check with the relevant sources (your country's customs authority) before placing your order.
